1000 years after the War of the Magi, the world has climbed a great mountain to return to a great age of technology that hadn't even been reached in the days of the Magi. But was it worth it? The world had come together under the empire of the great Emperor Gestahl, and his controversial techniques to gain power. The world has gotten to the point where they now fear the great Emperor, and a resistance group headed by the man known only as Banon, leads the way to a new era. With the esper discovered at Narshe, the resistance, known as the Returners, have found a prime spot to try and stop the emperor, not knowing what secrets for the world, this esper held.
